Opposition, civil society groups, and activists have been rallying against Section 44 (3) of the DPDP Act, claiming that it weakens the RTI Act, and demanded immediate repeal. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw took it to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify.

The Union Minister highlighted the government’s focus on decentralizing technological access, especially for Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Under this initiative, the government is establishing AI Data Labs in cities like Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Shimla, Aurangabad, Patna, Buxar, and Muzaffarpur.
