India’s top schools spur debate over OTT censorship, seek regulation

On November 20, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology met with multiple stakeholders to discuss concerns about the vulgarity of content streamed on OTT platforms.

To mitigate exposure to adult OTT content, many schools have implemented strict monitoring of online activities and are conducting regular workshops to educate students about safe online practices and the potential risks of ‘vulgar’ content.

The committee invited three industry organizations: the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA), and the Motion Picture Association (MPA).
