TRAI to issue new broadcast-policy consultation paper in next few days

Majority of the broadcasters and the members of the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF) oppose the TRAI's regulation requiring broadcasters to provide free channels on DD Free Dish to private distribution platform operators (DPOs).

TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti said the Authority has completed the process of pre-conversation for a broadcast policy.

The advisory has been issued in the context of proliferation of advertisements promoting anti-national illegal online gambling platforms, which are increasingly been endorsed by sportspersons and actors from the Indian film industry.
