SC dismisses plea seeking regulatory body for OTT platforms

The legal dispute highlights ongoing tensions between the socially conscious ice cream brand and the consumer goods giant.

The PIL, filed in September of this year, referred to Netflix series IC 814:The Kandahar Hijack to highlight the need for such a regulatory mechanism as the OTT platform claimed it was based on real-life incidents.

As per the report, with 70 million monthly active users worldwide, Netflix continues to make strides across all ad-supported markets, with over half of new sign-ups choosing the ads plan.
