The terrestrially transmitted channels can be carried to multiple DPO networks simultaneously for re-transmission. Considering these developments, it is essential to establish an enabling framework to ensure that service providers can fully leverage technological advancements.

The provision to transfer SIM ownership is available for consumers but there are no such norms in the case of machine-to-machine. The last date for receiving written comments on the issues raised in the consultation paper from stakeholders is now fixed for August 19 for written comments and September 2 for the counter comments.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has suspended the operations of V-con Intelligent Security (part of the Videocon Group) and OneXtel Media for sending 55.5 million fraudulent SMSes to users since January 2024.
