Congress vows to curb government censorship powers on media: Rahul Gandhi

“In the last ten years, significant sections of the media have been robbed of, or surrendered, their freedom. Congress will help the media re-discover the freedom that they enjoy under the Constitution,” said the Congress in its manifesto.

Congress’ election manifesto released last week has an eight pointer list for media reforms they are looking at. Some of the important highlights of these reforms concern censorship, empowering the Press Council of India, freedom of the internet and others.
