BREAKING: Stakeholders meet MIB over SDC; seek clear definitions of food and health sectors

In collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, the MIB recently announced plans to establish this ambitious creative center in Malad, Mumbai.

The stakeholders sought clear definitions of the food and health products. Additionally, the stakeholders suggested that the onus on advertisers to submit SDCs to agencies and publishers should not be made mandatory.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has suspended the operations of V-con Intelligent Security (part of the Videocon Group) and OneXtel Media for sending 55.5 million fraudulent SMSes to users since January 2024.

The media and entertainment industry expects reductions in import duty on newsprint, and revision in DVP rates, among other tax reliefs. It is hoping Modi 3.0 will offer financial support and subsidies for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and fuel funds in the creator economy.

During a consultation meeting chaired by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics & Information Technology, stakeholders from the radio sector urged that content restrictions should be removed and news and current affairs content should be allowed on radio. Further, recommendation was made to reduce the GST on radio to 5 percent from 18, at present.
