According to the telemarketers, the move could help regulate personal data misuse while also curbing the spam menace.

The new 160xxxxxxx number series allotted by the Department of Telecommunications will not only help crack down on unsolicited telemarketer calls using 10-digit mobile numbers, but enable consumers differentiate service/transactional calls versus other types of calls.
