Reliance’s JioCinema app surpassed global records with over 32 million concurrent viewers during the final game of the TATA IPL 2023 between the Chennai Super Kings and the Gujarat Titans, exceeding Hotstar’s previous breakthrough. This substantial increase in viewership is likely due to the ongoing speculation about cricketer MS Dhoni’s final professional appearance. JioCinema has already started cementing its position as one of the best OTT players out there after acquiring rights to HBO and Warner Bros Discovery Inc. content.

ICICIdirect’s Twitter handle too revealed some staggering numbers and shared Mukesh Ambani’s strategy for JioCinema.

Viacom18 paid Rs.23,758 crore to acquire IPL streaming rights and they let people watch it on JioCinema for free. As JioCinema’s viewership starts soaring, their ad revenue is predicted to hit 2600 crores this IPL, which would be even more than the ad revenue from TV. Watch the video.
