Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has announced that Dev Bajpai, the company’s Executive Director of Legal & Corporate Affairs and Company Secretary, will retire early on December 31, 2024.

Bajpai, a key figure within HUL’s leadership for over a decade, has been instrumental in shaping the company’s legal and corporate strategies.

Bajpai joined HUL in 2010 and has since served on the HUL Management Committee, the Board of Directors, and the South Asia Leadership team. His career spans notable roles at Maruti Udyog, Indian Hotels Company Limited, and Marico, giving him a deep legal background widely recognized across both Unilever and corporate India.

Under Bajpai’s leadership, HUL navigated complex legal landscapes and played a key role in orchestrating the successful merger of GSK Consumer Healthcare into HUL, one of the largest acquisitions in India’s FMCG sector.

HUL Chairman Nitin Paranjpe commended Bajpai for his contributions, noting that he consistently upheld high standards of corporate governance. Paranjpe highlighted Bajpai’s ability to guide the company through challenging legal issues and his leadership in maintaining HUL’s position as an industry thought leader.

Bajpai’s retirement signals the end of an influential tenure, though his decision to transition into social work is seen as a testament to his commitment to broader societal impact. HUL has yet to announce his successor.
